Where Plant Camp Was Born

And the community started...

Kat and Briana met in 2015, and immediately began geeking out on plants.

Pretty soon we were teaching together, taking folks into the woods and showing them what we know about medicinal plants. From botany to wild foods, medicine making to medicinal uses, we began by taking a small group of people out into the mountains and fields and help them tap into the plant knowledge waiting for us as humans.

In 2020, we taught a 2 week immersive botany and foraging intensive with author and teacher Tom Elpel, on the Western Slope of Colorado. By the end, our students  started to lovely refer to our adventure as "plant camp".

We loved it, and Plant Camp was born.

Since then, after years of scheming together, we not only provide in person classes, but we also figured out a way to begin sharing that knowledge through the wilds of the interwebs with Plant Camp @ Home, our online course.

With each class, we have the privilege of witnessing the transformations people have from engaging with the plant medicine, the community, and themselves. Each year brings new friends, deeper learning, and richer connection.

Whatever path you took to find us -we’re so glad you’re here. We couldn't do what we do without you.

Welcome to Plant Camp!

About Briana

I myself am a mother, wife, business owner, author, and teacher of the wild ways. I began studying herbalism and bodywork as a teen on a mission of self healing and discovery.

By the time I was 18 I had finished massage school, and was plotting my way westward for schooling in Structural Integration, also known as Rolfing, and my continued yearning for learning herbs. I landed in Colorado at 20, and haven't left! At 24 I circled back around to find that my main herb teacher, Jim Mcdonald, was located only 30 minutes away from where I grew up in Michigan.

From there, my herbal and wild food journey exploded and I dove in head first. I began my business as as farmers' market tent 10 years ago, and now have 2 retail stores and flourishing online shop!

About Kat

My main work and passion in life is as a teacher and herbalist. Iā€™m a certified clinical herbalist and nutritionist, as well as a certified Bach essences practitioner through the North American Institute of Medical Herbalism, where I studied with Paul Bergner in the Vitalist tradition. Iā€™m also a Registered Herbalist through the American Herbalists Guild.Ā

I worked for 12 years at the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism in Lafayette, CO in the capacity of Clinical Program Director, as well as primary faculty for the foundational first-year programs.

Currently, in addition to Plant Camps IĀ teach intensives on wild foods, herbalism and botany through my business Meet the Green, Ā as well as teaching at conferences and apothecaries, in addition to my clinical practice.Ā

Ā In the past 10 years Iā€™ve developed a particular love for working with herbs of the Colorado Plateau, and sharing what I've learned with others (that's part of how Briana and I first connected - geeking out on local plants!). The incredible harsh beauty of the Southwest has been one of the great loves of my life ever since.

My other interests include art, ancestral skills, gardening, and delighting in the beauty of the natural world.
